Student - Parent Handbook

Parent-Teacher Fellowship and Conferences
Valuable help will be given at Parent-Teacher Fellowship Meetings. Parents need to call the school office to set up specific times for conferences. Scheduling usually begins about two weeks prior to the conference. The dates for these meetings will be listed on the school calendar. Policies vital to the consistent training of your child will be discussed. The nature of the meeting will vary, but the general objectives are as follows:

1. To acquaint the parent with the philosophy of Christian education and the curriculum of the school

2. To acquaint both parents and teachers with the importance of recognizing and adequately coping with emotional, spiritual, and disciplinary needs of the child

3. To provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to know and fellowship with each other

4. To provide the parents with an opportunity to see the achievements of the students and to see various students and classes perform in a planned program

Physical Education

Elementary: Physical education (PE) classes are scheduled for elementary students. Proper dress for PE shall include:

Girls - T-shirt, loose fitting slacks or finger-tip length shorts, and sneakers

Boys - T-shirt, loose fitting slacks or finger-tip length shorts, and sneakers

Secondary: A well-rounded program of PE is conducted on all levels at HPBA. All students are expected to participate in the program. A doctor's statement must be on file with the school office if any student is physically unable to participate. The PE uniform shall be the following:

All - navy blue sweat pants or finger-tip length shorts, white socks, and athletic shoes

Girls - plain light blue/Columbia blue/powder blue T-shirt

Boys - plain light, medium or dark gray T-shirt

Playground Rules
The following rules have been implemented for the safety and general welfare of our students:

1. Students are responsible to stay within sight of the teacher on playground duty at all times.

2. Students must not enter or cross the street without permission from the teacher on playground duty.

3. Students must refrain from throwing objects, including snowballs.

4. Students must stay out of the shrubbery and flower beds.

5. Students must not stand on see-saws or climb objects not designed for that purpose.

Pledges

American Flag: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

Christian Flag: I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands, one Savior, crucified, risen, and coming again, with life and liberty to all who believe.

Bible Pledge: I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's Holy Word. I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I will hide its words in my heart that I might not sin against God.
