Student - Parent Handbook
Insurance
Some type of accident/health insurance is required for each of our
students. This keeps our liability premiums lower. School insurance is
available for students through a group insurance plan. This coverage is
optional at an extra cost. Information will be sent home with pupils at
the beginning of the school year.
Lost and
Found
All items turned into lost and found will be held in the school office for
a period of one month. After that time, if not claimed, they will be
donated to appropriate causes. Students can redeem lost items by paying a
fine of $.50 for each item claimed at any given time. Please place the
student's name on all items to help in the relocating of owner and
possession.
Lunch
Each student may bring his own lunch from home. Sandwiches, pizza, salads,
Lance products, sodas, Turkey Hill drink and ice cream products may be
purchased daily. It is very important that orderliness and manners be
observed during the lunch period.
Make-Up
Work and Tests
Absences will not carry any penalty and work missed can be made up. Tests
must be made up the second day after the student returns to school from an
illness, unless the illness is of a prolonged nature. It is the student's
responsibility to go to the teacher for test dates. Daily
assignments/notes must be obtained from other responsible students. Work
not made up will go on record as a zero.
Medications
No medications will be administered to students who become ill at school.
This includes Tylenol. These often mask symptoms and prevent a child from
receiving the medical attention he needs. Also, many children are allergic
to such commonly used medications as aspirin.
Prescription Medication - If a doctor has prescribed medication to be
given to your child during the day, please send complete written
instructions to the office along with the properly labeled medication.
Make sure to give the specific name of the medication and strength
(mgs.) along with the time the medication is to be given and any special
instructions, including the student's name and grade.. All medications are
to be left in the school office. The student will report to the office at
the appropriate time to take his medication. Medication must be in
pre-measured, single-dose quantities. Send only one day's supply at a
time. Special exceptions will be given to drops and ointments.
Under no circumstances is a student permitted to give any medication to
another student. No school personnel are authorized to give prescriptions
or non-prescription medication to any student, except in accordance with a
parent's or guardian's specific, written directions.
