School HistoryHigh Point Baptist Academy came into existence in September, 1972, as an educational ministry of High Point Baptist Chapel. In its first year, enrollment was 49 students in grades K-6 under the instruction of four teachers. The second year, 149 students and nine teachers were involved as the program expanded to ninth grade. By the third year, the Academy began with a full complement of grades and 300 students under the direction of 17 staff members. An enrollment high of 413 as seen in 1987-1988. A computer information systems curriculum was added to the existing college preparatory program in 1983. In 1993, the system was updated, and is still expanding with the addition of elementary keyboarding in 2000. In 1986, as additional educational wing was built, and a new gymnasium was completed in 1988. There are plans being developed for additional buildings in this decade. We have now graduated over 750 students. Over 80% continue into post-secondary education each year.
