Student - Parent Handbook
Extra-Curricular
Activities
Extra-curricular opportunities include interscholastic athletics,
cheerleading, choir, yearbook, drama, and various activity periods.
Membership in the Atlantic Coast Christian Athletic Conference, Keystone
Christian Education Association, and the American Association of Christian
Schools has provided interscholastic competition and fine arts with
Christian young people. The term, "extra-curricular activity,"
should be understood to include cheerleaders, interscholastic sports, and
any public program other than special Parent-Teacher Fellowship programs
or commencement. The purpose of the Extra-Curricular Eligibility Policy
is to insure that each student is motivated to place a proper balance
between his Christian education and his extra-curricular activities, and
to insure that each student who engages in extra-curricular activities is
aware of his responsibility to maintain a testimony for Jesus Christ and
HPBA. Students must have an overall average of 77% or above (one failing
grade permitted). Eligibility will be reviewed at issuance of each three
week progress report. A student declared ineligible may not participate in
an extra-curricular activity during the next three weeks. Any exceptions
would involve a student who is academically incapable of achieving this
average. HPBA cheerleaders are selected from those qualifying for
tryouts. To be eligible for qualification, one must have a good Christian
testimony and maintain the same scholastic record as one participating in
athletics. Field
Trips
Some secondary classes and grades K-6 will usually have two worthwhile
field trips during the school year. The trips will be handled in the
following manner:
 |
1. Officials in charge of the place will be
contacted and a visit will be scheduled. The trip will usually be
completed during school hours. |
 |
2. School buses or vans will be used. |
 |
3. Permission in writing must be obtained from the
parents of the students taking the trip. |
 |
4. Parents will be notified of travel expenses,
projected expenses at the site, how to plan a lunch, etc. |
 |
5. The general rule for attire will be as stated in
this handbook. The type of trip may necessitate a modification of this
policy. Parent will be notified when an exception is made. |
Financial Information
SMART, administered by First Investors Federal Savings Bank, will handle
billing, receipt, collection, and reporting of the Academy’s tuition.
All families, except those who make full payment by August 1, 2005, are
required to participate in the SMART program. Families have a choice of
due dates and payment plans according to the SMART guidelines.
Accounts must be paid within 10 days of the due date selected by the
family or a $10.00 late fee will be accessed.
Any family with an account not current by the last day of two
consecutive months will receive a letter stating that the child(ren)
cannot return to school unless the account is paid or satisfactory
arrangements are made with the Business Office. If the family does not
respond within 15 days, the child(ren) cannot return to school.
If a family chooses a payment method other than full payment in advance
or monthly automatic deduction from a bank account, SMART will send the
family coupons to submit with the regular monthly payment of tuition and
transportation. A family can choose to receive a monthly invoice from
SMART for an additional fee. Accounts will be billed for additional fees
such as elective fees.
No report card will be issued without an account being current.
No permanent records, transcripts, or diplomas will be issued without an
account being current.
No child(ren) may re-enroll the following year without settling the
previous year’s account.
Any check returned from the bank will trigger a $20.00 returned check
fee.
If a situation arises that prohibits payment of an account when due, the
parents bear responsibility to notify the Business Office.
A senior cannot participate in the graduation ceremony without a current
account.
